Today, animation is one of the most prominent artistic styles in which visual media content is produced. The animation produced today differs in terms of its method, production tools, artistic style, and purpose of production, and based on these variables; it is divided into four main types.
- 2D animation: The oldest and most popular type of animation, it is still the most popular genre in animated television series today. The beginning of this genre was when animators were drawing 24 drawings (frames) and moving them quickly so that it represented one second in the final movie and thus the images appeared to the viewer as if they were moving. Today, animation is produced in a similar way but using a computer, where artists draw frames and animation programs move them at the required speed. This method is known as (frame by frame animation), and there is another modern method of two-dimensional animation by creating the character within the animation program and creating its own skeleton and then moving it like a doll. - 3D animation :The emergence of this type of animation was in the late last century, when the first fully computer-produced feature-length animated film (Toy Story) was produced in 1995. Prior to this film, short films of this type of animation appeared. Today, most motion picture animation films are produced using 3D animation. In this type of animation, characters are created within animation programs (in a similar way to modern animation in 2D animation) and the locations where the action takes place are created in 3D, and these characters are then animated like puppets in these 3D worlds.
